Dreamy white French dresses at the Hamlet

I found this beautiful picture on tumblr.  We visited the Hamlet last October and I hope someday they will let you go inside and see the interiors.

Desperatelyseekingvalentino writes:

In twenty years, this is going to be my life. Country chateau, blackface lamb, field of daisies, precious little French baby girl. In other words, Heaven on Earth.

So true! Although I would have to fast forward the 20 years part to maybe 2 years.  I'll be old in 20 years!

Pink Edwardian Dress

Here is one of my favorite Edwardian dresses in my collection, mostly because it's a magenta pink!  Also, it accentuates the waist line.

A pretty idea for an Edwardian or Downton Abbey inspired wedding would be to take several white cotton Edwardian dresses and dye them different colors for the bridesmaids.  The bride could still wear the traditional white.   You could also do this for an old fashioned family picture as well.

Edwardian children and their Hairbows

These Edwardian children are darling, especially their white lace dresses and fluffy hairbows!  I can't wait until my littlest niece grows more hair so I can make a hair ribbon like this for her.  Happy first day of June!

Ticking Striped Country Day Dress

I often see ticking at the fabric store and think about making an old fashioned dress from it.  Then I happened to find this photo and it's perfect!  Those lemons are making me yearn for fresh squeezed lemonade and lemon bars.

Orange Lavender Scones

Does this not sound delicious?  My mom made lavender scones with clotted cream several years ago and I am still thinking about how good they were.

I read in a farm magazine recently that ancient Romans used lavender during war time for applying to soldiers wounds.  Personally, I like to use Dr. Bonner's lavender soap to clean with as it makes the whole house smell good.  The provence lavender I planted in my earthbox is finally taking off.

Happy Lei Day

Happy Lei Day! The gardenias are blooming so I've tucked away little bouquets in the house to make it smell heavenly. The bushes usually bloom for an entire month. I probably have enough to make a hoku lei.

I just love this painting by by Florence Parkhurst. Reminds me of my own Tutu. Visit here for more hawaiiana art.

The Secret to 66 years of marriage

Happy Anniversary to my Grandma and Grandpa!  They got married on April Fool's day 66 years ago.  Here is what Grandpa put as his facebook status (yes he is going to be 90 this year and he is on facebook):

‎"66 years ago today Dorothy and I got married and lived happily ever after"

P.S. Don't let that picture deceive you...Grandma can't sit still if there is work to be done.  They love their farm.

A Lady and her horse

This lady's velvet Medieval gown is so pretty.  And I would love to have her long Rapunzel hair.  Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to live in a different era...but I'm sure thankful for our modern conveniences and medicines.

Has anyone seen the BBC version of Robinhood? It's more like a soap opera set in medieval times. Maid Marian has some cute medieval style dresses in that show.

Edwardian girls by the seaside

Two friends, sitting on the rocks by the sea.  I love white Edwardian cotton dresses. The girl on the right looks exactly like my mom when she was younger, long hair and all!

p.s. Thank you to anybody who has commented on my blog. I read all the comments and will try my best to visit everyone else's blog :)

Leap Year Wardrobe

Amy Adams has a lovely wardrobe in the movie "Leap Year", a romantic comedy from 2 years ago.  Basically everything looks like it's from Anthropologie :)

Plum lace dress - classic wedding outfit idea

Plum purple is probably my favorite color and I've been looking for a dress to wear to a wedding that I'm going to in a month.  I love this dress worn by Penelope Cruz.

I'm all about the 3/4 sleeves, just below knee-length hemline, boatneck with collar, and the lace overlay!

1930s Style Vintage Nautical Outfit Inspiration

I was searching for photos of elephants and came across this elegant outfit.  A white nautical skirt paired with a navy striped sweater. It's perfect but might need a splash of color, maybe a red hat?  Love the lighting in this photo and all of the animals.

Nordic Country White Sleigh Decor

How about an antique sleigh in your living room?  Any child would love it.  All the shades of white make this room airy and bright.  I especially like the loveseat and chair with gold trim.  The hemp rug adds an earthy touch.  Judging by the railing outside the window this may be an apartment, but it could also be anywhere in the countryside.

Beautiful european style hedge

A combination of cypress trees and purple verbena make for a stunning view along this driveway to Peter Janke's garden.  I found this on pinterest and clicked over to The Garden Wanderer's blog.  They have lots of wonderful garden photos.

Colonial Vegetable Garden

A year or so ago we visited a public flower garden that included a few old farmhouses and this charming colonial garden.  I took lots of pictures to add to my dream garden inspiration files.  When you get tired from gardening there is place to sit and drink some sweet tea.  Or a tall glass of lemonade (see the citrus trees around the fence line).

I snapped this picture of Positano last Fall as we were waiting for our bus back to Sorrento.  The bus ride to and from Positano reminded me of The road to Hana.  But it was definitely worth it :)

Pretty Tiffany Blue Pantry

The aqua blue turns this pantry from ordinary to extraordinary!  And the FLOR rug is a great idea.  I found this at Dina's blog called "Honey & Fitz".  Check out her "Before and After" gallery for more great inspiration.

The Prettiest Place in the Country

                                            {via vintagerosegarden}

Farm & Ranch and National Geographic are two magazines you can always count on at my grandparent's house.  Farm & Ranch has a feature called "Prettiest Place in the Country" and we'd always joke about how we should submit Grandma and Grandpa's farm for that column.

This picture could be called "Prettiest Place in the English Countryside".  The lighting and subject matter are perfect!
