Easy Updo Hairstyles

Pin Curl Twist Updo

This page http://www.totalbeauty.com/content/gallery/p_17_styles/ has 17 different hairstyles with that they claim you can do in 10 minutes. These are a few of my favorites.
My hair usually ends up looking like this next one although I do not have blonde hair like the model. It looks prettier if your hair has highlights.

siamese kitties

This cat's name is Puffin. When she was a kitten she was a fluffball!

And this little kitty is a distant relative. The faces usually turn darker as they get older.

empire dresses

I love this long flowy white empire dress Gwyneth wears in the movie "Emma". And...is that an archway of apples?

There are lots of pretty dresses in "Pride and Prejudice" as well.

There is a empire dress pattern and fabric that has been tucked away on a shelf for the last year, suppose I should put my sewing machine to use.

a slow Sunday

The weather has been perfect for haying...

Eggs Benedict from today's brunch

I made vegan brownes twice this week, this are soooo good! The recipe is very easy: brown sugar, white sugar, whole wheat flour/white flour, baking powder, cocoa baking powder, vegetable oil, vanilla extract and water. Now that I ate half of the brownie pan, it is time to
run around outside and burn some calories :)

Raised Garden Beds in DC

We were in DC on Monday and lo and behold came across some raised garden beds for the community. I got a close-up of some of the vegetables. Enjoy the pictures!

New Zealand!

Now that my sister is marrying a Kiwi I've looked up some pretty places to visit in NZ. Look at the lovely Eyre mountains.

And this is Cathedral Cove, it looked very familiar. It must be in all the travel magazines.

Of course I had to include a picture of sheep. Look at them dotting the hillside. I hope to travel to NZ sometime next year.

low carb, high protein shakes

I am looking for some good low carb / high protein shake recipes. Lately when I eat lunch I get tired for the rest of the afternoon. So my plan is to have a nutritious smoothie at lunch and then walk for a bit.

I really like the orange mango smoothie at starbucks and here is the recipe from yahoo answers.

Blend the following:
Orange Mango Naked juice
1 banana
protein powder
1/3 C ice

However I just looked up the nutrition info and it has 57g of carbs and only 16g of protein. Eeek!

field picture

Saturday we spent most of the afternoon taking a family picture. Actually it was several pictures and involved different locations including a hay field and a buttercup field right in our backyard. Anyways as you can tell we all wore white except for the guys, I guess they didn't have any white pants.

linen skirt

I really like this long white linen skirt. If I can't find one I'll go find some linen and stitch one up.

the weekend

I have an hour and a half left of work and then it's a 4 day weekend, yay! I remember the days when I wasn't working and I would forget what day it was since every day was like a Saturday to me, ha ha. Well not to mention my last art class is tonight, the night when everyone else is going to Georgetown and eating dinner. Hopefully the teacher will let us out early!

It is supposed to be cloudy and rainy until Monday but somehow we have to fit in our family picture. (Probably will have to get in the car and drive somewhere sunny). We are finally all together again after 2 years so it's time for a new one. Also, everyone is will be matching (wearing white).

Making Soap

I watched another dvd by the West ladies about making soap and they make it look pretty easy! Now I feel like making some soap this weekend. One of my favorite scents is lavender so I'm going to look for some pure lavender essential oil. Which reminds me, I better plant a lot of lavender in the garden.

I brought in a gardenia blossom to work and it smells heavenly. I wonder if I could find some gardenia oil somewhere.

mac mini

Hopefully this little mac mini will be my next computer. Right now I have a G3 laptop which has served me faithfully but I need something that will hold all of my zillion photo files and have the lastest mac software installed. Plus is it very portable, probably can fit in my purse.

It is $599 though and for a few hundred more I can get a refurbished macbook. One thing I love about macs is that my laptop never had a virus while all the P.C's I've had never seemed to work properly for very long. (Hint: You shouldn't buy a DELL, because you pay for what you get). I've heard several computer repair people say that 90% of their business is DELLs.

Happy Lei Day

May day is also known as "Lei Day" in Hawaii. This was actually started back in 1928, but you will see people wearing leis all throughout the year. One year on Lei Day I made everyone candy leis.

There is a Roy's restaurant near us and they usually give out free orchid leis to the customers. Except the menu (4-5 courses is $85 a person). It looks yummy though!
